L'obesità rappresenta attualmente una delle prime 10 malattie croniche per prevalenza e costi per il sistema sanitario. Infatti, un paziente con obesità grave dai 18 anni ha in media 13 anni di aspettativa di vita in meno di una persona normopeso.

Per rendere meglio l’idea, questa condizione patologica è responsabile di oltre 2,8 milioni di decessi all'anno in tutto il mondo. L’ultima rilevazione ufficiale dell’Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS) dimostra che in Italia il 45,1% della popolazione adulta soffre di sovrappeso/obesità. Il rischio di morte prematura è direttamente proporzionale al peso.

Approccio Multidisciplinare al Trattamento dell'Obesità

La presa in carico del paziente e la preparazione all’intervento chirurgico avviene attraverso visite specialistiche coordinate da un Case Manager, secondo quanto previsto dal Percorso Clinico-Assistenziale del paziente affetto da obesità. In aggiunta al chirurgo prevede il coinvolgimento di diverse figure professionali quali internista, dietista, psicologo, psichiatra.

Questo approccio multidisciplinare include:

  • Visite di controllo di pazienti in attesa di intervento o già operati, per verificare condizioni cliniche, esami richiesti nel corso della valutazione iniziale, aderenza al percorso integrato post-operatorio ed eventuali criticità intervenute.
  • Valutazione multidisciplinare del paziente con obesità per una definizione “personalizzata” della proposta terapeutica.
  • Presa in carico del paziente con raccolta anamnestica, esame obiettivo, informazione e programmazione del successivo iter-diagnostico terapeutico.
